Heritage Events

This fall, winter, and spring, Camp Woodie is offering multiple opportunities for adults to join their campers on hunts and other weekend activities. During the fall you can join your camper on a dove, deer, and/or duck hunt. Other spring events include Shooting Instruction Weekends, Women’s Wilderness Weekends, Bass Fishing Tournaments, and Family Camp Weekends.

Youth Only Duck Hunts

For the youth only duck hunts, the parent chaperone will NOT be allowed to hunt, but must accompany their camper to the blind along with a guide. Each parent/child group will have their own room. You may arrive the night before. There will be a presentation about hunter safety and duck hunting skills with social time around the fire pits. After your morning hunt, you will then return to Chase Lodge to enjoy breakfast and learn how to clean your ducks.

Sporting Clays and Dove Hunt Weekend

These Friday-Saturday sessions will feature a morning sporting clays warm up and afternoon dove hunt. We will provide meals and lodging. There will be sporting clays and dove hunt ammunition available for purchase. Participants are encouraged to bring their own shotguns, but range guns will be available.

Parent/Child Deer Hunting Weekend

These Friday-Saturday sessions are all about deer hunting with two hunting opportunities-morning and afternoon. Each parent/child group is allowed 1 buck, 8 points or better, and one doe. We will provide meals and hands-on learning of field dressing of deer and lodging. Hunters must provide their own rifle and ammunition.

Boyd Camp Parent/Child Duck Hunts

These parent/child duck hunts will take place on the Boyd Camp property at the Wildlife Education Center. You will arrive the evening before. There will be a presentation about hunter safety and duck hunting skills with social time around the fire pits.

Shooting Instruction Weekend

This 3 day, 2 night weekend is filled with shooting shotguns, 22’s, and archery with professional instruction at our new shooting venues. Our new shooting venues are designed for team games and helps increase shooting time. Parent child groups will arrive Friday night and have dinner and hang out at the camp fire. Saturday will be full of shooting instruction and end with a night shoot at our well lit 5 stand range. Sunday will be a top gun competition. All meals, housing, and ammo will be provided. We encourage participants to bring their own guns. We will have camp guns on site shall one be needed.

Women’s Wilderness Weekend 

This 3 day, 2 night weekend is all about making sportswomen. Participants will have professional shooting instructors and archery instructors to help with shotgun shooting and archery. Along with shooting activities we will have outdoor education classes, canoeing, and more. All meals, housing, and ammo will be provided. We encourage participants to bring their own guns, but we have camp guns if you need to use one.

Bass Fishing Tournaments  

This 2 day, 1 night weekend is all about finding the biggest bass at camp. Parent child groups will be able to fish at all 5 ponds located throughout camp. Friday night we will have dinner, then allow groups to explore the many different fishing areas. Saturday morning until lunch will be the fishing tournament. The winner will be announced at lunch. All meals and housing will be provided. We encourage participants to bring their own fishing gear, but we have some if needed.

Family Camp Weekends  

This 3 day, 2 night weekend is to let parents see camp life while also letting younger campers get use to the facilities before attending camp for their one week session. During the weekend family groups will participate in shooting activities, canoeing, education classes, and more. All meals and housing will be provided.
